Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park

This national park derives its name from its two main attractions - the geological formations of Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Uluru (formerly known as Ayers Rock) is the world's largest monolith and one of Australia's most recognizable landmarks, while Kata Tjuta (formerly known as the Olgas) refers to a collection of gigantic egg-shaped rocks. The park is a designated World Heritage Area for both its cultural and natural values and is sacred to the Anangu aboriginal people. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is 14 km (9 mi) from Yulara and over 450 km (280 mi) from Alice Springs.
